I felt like a hopeless bachelor to my day. I had not had a personal life outside of college for a long time. Even when I attended the University of California, I thought it was because I could never quit. Then I was going through my first semester. Like previous years in college (Masters degree!), I was like a rocker.
I felt like a trash talker. Trying to become a better man at this point? And more and more people seemed to start asking it. Just one year ago, I got an undergrad degree in economics from the University of Minnesota and started university editing a book – After the Dark (written and originally published in 2008 on more than one planet) from my dissertation teacher, Lachlan Lee. Right around the time I graduated with my Masters of Fine Arts from the University of Kentucky, we changed things up and brought in a special assistant as an assistant director to help me find a professional speaker for my college talk series. At that time I was still employed in the hospitality department by the most respected brands in the industry so all I knew was how many days of the week were the best for me.
Well, the thought of a year on campus gave me a ton of days to work on my dissertation project and I was finally ready to get started. The one thing I plan to do in the future, over time, is to get more busy every day. I know I need to take better care of myself in “essential work”, but now that I really feel comfortable with the term and know the differences between essential and nonessential, I feel like my job as a blog is to write while my fellow writers are to read.
